Throwaway Stories
Manchester Met has been handing disposable cameras to students and asking them to capture university life as they see it. Accommodation, friendships, everyday moments. The result? More than 263,000 views, with plenty more students wanting to get involved. The university has complemented this with short student voice notes embedded across its website, giving authentic advice in students’ own words.
It’s refreshingly low-tech - disposable cameras, voice notes, limited production. Just students telling their own stories. And why are disposable cameras particularly powerful? Well, it’s that one shot isn’t it? The actual moment. No going back. No deleting. As it’s meant to be.
